Conference on farm killings

AfriForum will hold a quick conference on farm murders next week. During the conference a report containing case studies about gross negligence on the part of the South African Police Service (SAPS) during the investigation of farm murders will be presented.

Victims who have lost loved ones in farm murders will recount how negligence during police investigations prevented justice from being served. The report will be presented to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) after the conference. The SAHRC is currently considering a number of complaints on farm murders.

AfriForum will also introduce a manual which will be distributed to the local structures of the organisation, as well as community security networks across the country. The manual covers various problem areas identified in the report. These include the protection of crime scenes and the process to be followed by the police when investigating a crime.

AfriForum hereby cordially invites its members in the Pretoria area to attend the event (limited space available). A light lunch will be provided.
